For my own records

I need a bit of a run-down of what I'm doing suppliment wise, food wise and body-wise, what has worked, why I think so etc. I'll cut it because it's bound to get long (and dull!!!)

Vitamins:

Dr. Watsky (endo) wants me to take a gluten free, food source multi 2x a day (twice the dosage) to combat my vitamin defeciency, particularly Vit. D.   I have recently switched from one I could only get on-line to one by Natrol.  It is somewhat cheaper, requires only swallowing two caplets rather than SIX at each sitting and I can get it at Hannaford.  I haven't noticed any constipation or ill effects, and my nails and hair are growing really, really well which means, I think, that my body is happy with them.

Coral Calcium and Vit D.  Taken once daily M-F with a Zinc capsule to keep the copper overload under control as well as to up my Vit. D intake.  Mom was put on 50,000 IU once a week due to her deficiency and I very much don't want to get there!  Also, winter=less sun exposure and I have already noticed my psoriasis getting MUCH worse.  So many new studies are linking vit D deficiency to psoriasis (patches and arthritis) that I want to make sure I have that well covered.

Periodically, now: Grapefruitseed extract and Oregano extract.  These are anti-fungals now saved specifically for when I have a flare or low-level symptoms I can't shake.... followed by pro-biotics (usually Florasmart 6billion).

Candida-foods.  I am now periodically eating yeast, vinigars and mushrooms as well as coffee (which I never actually gave up).  I also am eating a lot of honey as it not only doesn't flare me, but seems to *help* flares.  I know it's anti-fungal and research shows me that the darker the honey the more anti-candida in specific it is... so I'll be on the lookout for dark (buckwheat if possible) honey as I shop over the next months.

I'm still using the exercise ball at work and it seems to be helping my back a lot.  My thighs, too, lol, as they are trimming down faster than anything else! I guess it's the balancing and bouncing!  I also am going to Curves still.  I am trying to get more regular with my attendance now that I'm not working two jobs.  I feel so much better when I do.  I need to start taking Kirra for walks on the off days again as well.  That's good for both of us and for some reason I let it slip out of habit in favor of more sleeping time... I owe both myself and that poor dog a little more attention than that.

OVERALL:

Feeling SO much better.  During the summer I got in the habit of cleaning house on week day nights in order to be able to be away at the Renn. faire on the weekends.  I've been trying to keep that up a bit so that we can do more fun, recreational things on the weekends rather than the girls just veging out in front of the TV all day Saturday and on Sunday afternoons.   We've got the TV off for the week again thanks to school and are really making more of our time together.    Mom's doing tremendously better now, too.  Between the insulin pump allowing her to really keep her blood sugars tight and going gluten/sugar free, she's losing weight slowly but steadily and gaining momentum, fun and energy!

:)

And that's the official update/report on the state of Allyson at this moment.

I'm trying to follow what you are doing, because I think I have developed a candida overload. I need some help getting that under control but I don't think I am going to get it from my docs.

Which vitamin are you taking?
http://www.natrol.com/

To start out with, what is the basic thing you do to detox? And what do you do to cope with die off?
Do you happen to have some really good links?

I'm not sure, I'd have to look at the bottle at home :)

To start... oy vay...

to start, get rid of all yeast, refined sugar, citrus, mushrooms, coffee, black tea, peanuts, cashews, vinigars, dried fruits, artificial sweetners and high carb items from your diet... and limit carb intake to about 30 carbs per sitting, and limit dairy or eliminate it.

After that, choose and anti-fungal to take (I like grapefruitseed extract along with, when flares are bad, oregano oil capsules and fresh garlic, then follow an hour later with a GOOD pro-biotic like Florasmart to fill in the spaces the candida has vacated.)

Die off.

LOTS of water, lots of Vit C and other anti-oxidents (like blueberries and pommegrannate). Lots of sleep. You're gonna feel like shit for a few weeks... have a headache and extreme fatigue if you're like me. And you'll crap green, lol, as it exits your system.

as for links... joining the candida community I am a part of (you might want to link from my userinfo page) is the best place. They have links on the infopage and all the entries are supurb, and people really know their stuff!!!

THEN... then is the hard part. You have to watch your diet and be careful of a flare up forever.

Wow.... well, I've already gotten rid of much of that. I don't use yeast unless I am baking and I haven't done that for ages. I don't eat wheat. We haven't had sugar in the house for a couple of years. There is honey but I don't use it. I stick with Stevia.

And why no vinegar? I know that is used to control it topically.

Are walnuts ok?

Thanks for the link.

Anything fermented can feed the internal yeast, so vinigars are out. I find that they can flare me even though I use them topically for control, too.

I think walnuts are fine, but can't eat them so don't remember exactly. Peanuts and cashews harbor mold and ANYTHING mold harboring (like melons, because the rinds harbor molds, so to eat them you should wash the rind with dish soap, score with a knife and then pry open with a clean knife... too much trouble for me most of the time...) mold is the problem with coffee and black tea, too, I fear :(

I ended up joining a couple of communities you have.... A thyroid dieting community sounds like something I need. I'm really frustrated because every time I start losing and feeling better, I suddenly get sick and end up stopping the exercise that I need to be doing.

Sometimes I get too frustrated and stop dieting, too. Bad me...

Seeing how fantastically you are doing is encouraging. I absolutely must work harder at this.

feeling better is very, VERY addictive! I really think getting the candida (and thus the cravings) under control has been key in my weight loss and health re-gain.
